Message from the Head of School
Welcome to the International School of Paris!
As the Head of School at ISP and it is an honour to be part of an international school community where students are proud ambassadors for their home countries, whilst also developing a keen appreciation for Paris and all the culture and opportunities that surround us here. King Francis I is believed to have said “Paris is not a city; it’s a world” and while we might not be able to prove this of Francis, it is certainly true of ISP. The school is made up of approximately 750 students between the ages of 3 and 18, from more than 60 different countries each year – including many new arrivals like yourselves, joining us from Paris or further afield. I know from experience that students and families joining ISP will quickly feel part of the school thanks to ISP’s welcoming and motivating environment, one where students celebrate their commonalities while nourishing their sense of individuality.
I am a firm believer in student‐centered education as exemplified by ISP's mission, vision and guiding statements. ISP believes in the partnership of students, teachers, and parents where student inquiry and agency are supported as students push their educational limits. I look forward to partnering with you to support your children's continued growth and development that are crucial to success in a complex world. We recognize that the challenges facing young people today require thoughtful and creative responses, and that the critical thinking and research skills cultivated in all three International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes prepare us well to propose such responses.
Our broad and balanced academic curriculum is complemented by a wide range of Extended Curriculum Activities (ECAs) and sports, as well as supportive wellbeing and transition teams. We consistently ensure that every student, no matter the challenges they face or the talents and skills they express, has the best preparation for their future. The real warmth of the school, the atmosphere of friendship combined with endeavour, lies within our students, parents and staff.
I look forward to connecting with you all in the 2023/24 school year – and to celebrating our learning together!
David Henry
