My body of work explores the idea of the interconnection between nature, urban area and human. It illustrates nature in urban areas, the contrast between nature and urban, and humans' effect on nature and the world the way we chose to build it. Initially, my work focused on highlighting nature in urban areas. As I advanced through the time, I discovered artists and art genres which made me open to a larger message. Through my exhibition, I'm aiming that the viewer meditates on the way we live and our priorities. My body of works encourages the audience to take care of its environment and of its surrounding. To do this I approach it in three-ways; first, by mixing Nature and Urbanization. Secondly I’ve included plants in my sculpture and used it as a motif for our planet/environment which we need to cherish to keep it alive. Thirdly, I’ve used photography portraying people and life in general. I’ve shown urbanization in all its forms through painting, film, photographs and sculptures. In this way the audience was left with different aspects of life, urbanization and nature to judge themselves on what we should do. My body of work encourages the audience to appreciate, take care of its environment and their surroundings.
With My work I wanted to use different materials and media. Starting with paper and concertina to sculpture and Artistic film. I think it is important to portray an Idea with different media as each individual are more tangible to be sensitive to one particular medium. I’ve also quite like the opportunity to create art under all its possible form. Through the time I realized that all the medium I’ve used were equally effective to portray my themes. They convey and complete the representation of my theme in their way and well. The sculptures are bringing the touch of nature and are really powerful to represent effectively how fragile nature is and how important it is to take care of it.
I would say the turning point in my conceptual ideas of my body of work came with the creation of ‘Comforting Pollution’, as this was when I began to explore the idea of nature and its relationship with us. This happens at the same time that I’ve been looking at the artist Andy Goldsworthy and the Land Art movement which strongly impacted the direction I was going to take with my body of work. The incorporation of nature was directly influenced by the Land Art movement. It was quite surprising and interesting how artists would use nature as a medium and let art be destroyed and vanish over time. This idea of cycle and of perpetual change has been one of the fundament of my art and more particularly of my sculptures.
My exhibition is laid out in a manner that “Human Decency” is placed in the middle (middle of the room on the floor) as it creates a perfect link between a more natural art piece and a more urban piece and which represents well in one piece the theme the visitors are going to look at. The exhibition starts on the left with a quite dull and sad monochrome colour. As the audience walks towards the right, more colour appears, and the art goes from a quite abstract style, to a much more jovial and concrete pieces of art. In this way, the audience is embarked in a journey and an exploration around nature, humanity and urbanization, to appreciate it and to provoke action.
In Unison (December 2022)

“In Unison” is a piece of art which unite the theme of nature and of Life. This art represent how we need nature to survive and how it is in away a part of us. If it dies, we die with it. I’ve been influenced by the artist Toni Matelli, because of how he shows the theme of nature in his exhibition by making them a part of the environment. “In Unison” changes through time depending on the stage in which the plants are (from being seeds to their death) showing a perpetual change through time.
