The aim of my work is to explore the different effects that can be achieved with electronic painting. In fact, there is no unified theme in my work, I have even put Fanart in there, all the paintings are just created by following a flash of an idea in my mind, with no particular point of view or idea that I want to convey, just the idea in my own head. The reason why I choose to use electronic painting is because I'm relatively good at it, that's all. And drawing electronically ensures better line definition, as I did a systematic drawing training in the summer, and you can see a clear stylistic change in my use of line in the relatively newer works, for example, when comparing the previous works, I am bolder in my use of line and have a better grasp of how to use a large number of lines to create an effect.
Almost all of my works are done in the form of electronic paintings, and they are strongly related to my real life. My works ‘Hair’, ‘Niki’ and ‘Friend’ are all made to be given as gifts to my friends, so they contain my stereotypical images of different friends, while my works ‘Knight’, ‘Heart’ and ‘My The works ‘Knight’, ‘Heart’ and ‘My role play games character’ are all illustrations of different characters from the role play games I played with my friends. Fanart of Yasaka Kanako’, as the title suggests, is related to my own favourite ACG culture. In the illustration ‘Niki’ I tried using a lot of dichotomous light and shadow for the first time, and I used the technique of hiding colours in the dark areas to enrich the picture by filling in other colours with low saturation while still having the inherent colours, and I tried to use brushes in the illustrations ‘Friend’ and ‘My role play games character’. In the illustrations ‘Friend’ and ‘My role play games character’, I tried to use brushes to achieve a different texture from the other works, and in the illustrations ‘Knight’ and ‘Hair’, I used a lot of line to manipulate the structure and rhythm of the picture. The style is influenced by many Japanese illustrators and manga artists, for example, in the work ‘Hair’, the idea of expressing the texture of the hair with a lot of lines comes from the Japanese illustrator Matayoshi, and the reason for trying to use brushes as brushes is also influenced by the Japanese manga artist Inoue Takehiko's brushwork.
The reason why I put the three avatars under my Story board is because they belong to the various fantasy worldviews I built with my friends, and the reason why I put Self-portrait next to Niki is because they were created a year apart, so that you can see how my colouring style has changed over the course of a year, and the reason why I put Hair under Niki is to show the audience the diversity of my painting techniques and my ability to change my style in two months, and then “Fanart of Yasaka Kanako” and “Knight” were placed side by side because they are not the busts and heads that I often paint, but rather action paintings from a farther distance, and so they were placed together! Therefore, placing these two works together achieves a better viewing effect and greater visual tension.
