Senior boys make ISP proud in Lisbon at the 2017 ESC football tournament

The senior boys Panthers football team travelled to Lisbon, Portugal, this November to represent ISP in the European Sports Conference football tournament, finishing in eighth position out of 12. This marked a significant improvement on our performance at the tournament this time last year.

ISP Panthers compete in Lisbon

The boys had a tough section, with both of the final teams coming from our group, so they did extremely well to win two games in the earlier stages. Cimor, Lebo and Pablo were our goal scorers and one of the highlights of the tournament was discovering that Lebo had received a nomination for ESC Player of the Tournament for his exceptional speed. All of the members of the team made important contributions to the tournament and they all behaved impeccably.

I would like to commend all the boys for their excellent work:

  • Olivier: an excellent role model for the team and our lead defender
  • Thomas: excellent skills and determination
  • Alexander: excellent skills and a great facilitator
  • Aashish: a great job in defense
  • Lorenzo: outstanding strength in defense
  • Kota: showed resilience in overcoming illness and displayed excellent skills
  • Zinzan: excellent work rate
  • Job: development throughout the tournament and careful listening to feedback
  • Quentin: fast and effective defender
  • Jack: made excellent decisions and played with real ISP spirit
  • Andrea: defended well and maintained a positive attitude
  • Martin: maintained composure when faced with tough opposition in goal

The Panthers boys demonstrated excellent composure throughout the tournament and were commended on their courtesy by their host families. They were extremely responsible and represented ISP in the very best light. They really bonded as a team and it was a pleasure to supervise the trip!

A big thank you also goes to Mr Silva for coaching during the trip and to Coach Mihai for coaching the team throughout the season.

Go Panthers!
