Diploma (Grades 11 - 12)
At the International School of Paris our students aged 16-19 learn through the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) was established in 1968 to provide an internationally recognised qualification for students studying outside of their home country. Present in almost 5,000 schools and 140 countries, the IB DP has a world-wide reputation for excellence in preparing students for university study.

Learning a Second Language
Students study at least two languages throughout their time in their Diploma Programme
The curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. Made up of the three required components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.
The IB's Diploma Programme (DP) is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities, and evidence suggests that higher rates of DP students go on to university and higher education study than non-IB students.
Learning a second language enables students to increase their understanding of several cultures, including their own. They Explore globally significant ideas and issues through different languages.
What are the core elements of the Diploma Programme?
Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
TOK is a question-based subject in which students investigate their own knowledge and what it means to know.
Extended Essay (EE)
The EE allows students to investigate a topic of interest to them.
Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)
IB Diploma students engage in purposeful activities involving creativity, activity and service.
In TOK, students examine different knowledge disciplines, and investigate how knowledge develops in and across these. Students come to recognise their own personal, ideological and cultural assumptions, and over time come to understand other perspectives, as well as gain an understanding and appreciation of the diversity of cultural perspectives.
By thoroughly exploring their research question, students develop skills in research, analysis, and evaluation. The 4000-word essay is an excellent preparation for undergraduate study.
The best activities are initiated by the students themselves and have a significant impact on the community. Students are encouraged to work in teams, challenging themselves and each other. Learning and personal reflection on their experiences are fundamental to high-quality activities, as is the ability to plan and review progress.
