Celebrating School Spirit During Spirit Week

Before the school break, the vibrant atmosphere of Spirit Week enveloped the halls of the Beethoven campus, captivating students in a whirlwind of excitement and camaraderie. Spirit Week, a cherished tradition, ignited a sense of unity and enthusiasm among the students (and teachers) as they eagerly participated in themed dress-up days.

From the cozy comfort of Pyjama Day to the playful mirroring of Twin Day, each themed day provided an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and school pride. Even teachers and staff joined in on the fun, demonstrating their support and enthusiasm for the student-led initiative.

Honoring Our Staff During PTA Staff Appreciation Week

Last week, the PTA organized a week-long celebration to express gratitude towards our staff (PTA Staff Appreciation Week). It served as a sincere token of appreciation for the unwavering dedication, hard work, and inspiration that our community members consistently provide to our learning environment, benefiting students, parents, and colleagues alike.

Throughout the week, various special gestures were planned exclusively for our staff, generously sponsored by the PTA. These included delightful breakfast treats across all campuses to kickstart Monday morning, personalized thank-you notes, communal lunches on Wednesday across all campuses, and a box of chocolates on Friday. These gestures left our staff feeling truly valued and appreciated!

Highlights from ISP's Internal Learning Forward Conference

Last Friday, staff shared their knowledge and expertise at ISP’s internal Learning Forward 2024 Conference. Community members presented on topics from differentiation to AI to exploring Culture Maps to immersive technology all through the theme of the IB Learner Profile. It was a day where staff had the opportunity to choose their learning path.

From fostering inclusive classrooms to leveraging cutting-edge AI tools, the presentations illuminated diverse avenues for enriching the learning experience. As the day unfolded, attendees not only expanded their knowledge but also forged meaningful connections with colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous growth within the ISP community.

Making Sense of AI at School and Beyond

On Thursday evening, visiting workshop facilitator Eric Hudson led an engaging discussion with ISP parents from all three campuses on the topic of artificial intelligence within a school learning community.  

Using the guiding question, "How might we focus on what generative artificial intelligence enables in our schools rather than what it prevents?", Eric began by explaining the rapid rise of powerful generative AI tools, what early research is telling us about student and educator use of AI, and what these tools can and cannot do. Further, he probed the concepts of digital and AI literacy and core competencies of effective use of AI. This then extended to ways in which our learning community might discuss AI with students in the context of learning and wellness.

A very thought-provoking evening for all participants who undoubtedly left thinking about how we all can support our students' learning journey in meaningful ways.

Antoine Delaitre's Introduction to ISP

Our incoming head of School, Antoine Delaitre, visited ISP last week to get to know ISP better and to begin building relationships with a range of community members including parents during the Whole School Parent Coffee Morning last Tuesday. All parents were invited to meet with key members of our school community over coffee to catch up about life at ISP and meet Antoine Delaitre on his transition visit. This was also a great opportunity for new families who have recently joined ISP to connect and converse. 

During his visit, Antoine Delaitre engaged in insightful discussions with a range of community members, gaining valuable insights into the curriculum and the learning environment at ISP. As we eagerly anticipate Antoine Delaitre's official start date on July 29, 2024, we look forward to the positive impact his leadership will undoubtedly have on enriching the educational experience for all members of the ISP community.

    Data Protection Notice

    The International School of Paris, 6 rue Beethoven 75016 Paris (ISP) pays utmost attention to your personal data. ISP is collecting the hereby requested personal data for purpose of the selection processes for the job you are applying and in case of subsequent employment opportunity specifically for such job or subsequent applications for employment made by you at ISP. The personal data collected may include the resume and any cover letter or attached correspondence, employment/education history, any information received from referees. It is your responsibility to ensure referees’ agreement for transfer to ISP of their details and clearance of ISP's right to contact them. ISP may also ask for your criminal records as part of the recruitment process (in application of French law and collective bargaining IDCC 2691) but ISP will ask for your explicit consent and ensure that any such information will be treated as confidential. The requested data is necessary to take steps (at your request) prior to entering into a contract execution (if your application is successful) and for ISP’s legitimate interests. If you do not provide such data ISP will not be able to process your employment application and it will be rejected. ISP is the data controller. The data recipient are ISP’s departments of Human Resources (exclusive recipient of criminal records), Finance, the Pedagogical Leadership Teams and ISP’s Direction and Board of Trustees. Should you be unsuccessful with your application ISP will destroy your application form after one year of its submission. If you are successful with your application and a work contract is signed between you and ISP your application form will be held for the duration of your work contract and then archived separately for unlimited duration unless otherwise required by applicable law. By submitting your personal data and application for employment, you warrant the truthfulness and accuracy of the information you provide to ISP. On occasions, ISP will contact third parties to verify information you have provided and other facts relating to you and your application, for example references. Any false assessment or information may result in immediate rejection of your application or contract termination as the case may be. In accordance with January 6, 1978 French law, (‘Informational Rights and Freedom’) and the General Data Protection Rule (UE 2016/679 dated April 27th 2016) , you have the right to ask from ISP access to and rectification or erasure (if the data is no longer not necessary for the purpose for which it was collected), the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint to the Information Commissioners’ Office.
