Work in the heart of Paris
Three unique campuses in the 16th arrondissement of Paris specifically tailored for primary, middle and high school teachers & students.
On Wednesday evening, parents, staff and Board members gathered for ISP's annual Association General Meeting, held on our Cortambert campus. This evening is an opportunity for our not-for-profit school, which operates under French law as an Association 1901, to present to our association members (parents) our 2022/2023 audited financials, updated 2023/24 budget forecast and 2024/2025 budget and vote on related 2022/2023 financial resolutions that were shared with our community in Thursday's ISP News email.
It is also a time to collaboratively discuss and share progress from each of our Board Committees (Finance, Facilities, Advancement and Governance), hear highlights from our Head of School and elect new Board members. This year, we have the great pleasure to announce the election of Jessica Lovejoy to the Board of Trustees. Jessica is a current and valued member of the Board, and we look forward to her continued contributions in many strategic areas going forward.
This year's meeting also included a dedicated video message from our Incoming Head of School, Antoine Delaitre. Antoine will be arriving in Paris in July, and his transition is well underway thanks to current Head of School, David Henry, and the dedicated Head of School transitions team. ISP looks forward to welcoming Antoine on campus the week of March 18th for a period of in-person connections and exchange - more details to come!
The meeting concluded with a champagne cocktail, offering a lovely capstone to an evening rich in information and discussion. See you at next year's annual GM, ISP!
ISP had the privilege of being invited as a special guest school to participate in the Iberian League Football Tournament. Held this year at the Mediterranean Sport Village in Tarragona, Spain, from February 7th to 9th, 2024, the tournament showcased the talents of several schools, including two international participants alongside ISP: the American School in Valencia and the International School of Geneva.
The invitation extended to Steve Trollope (ISP's Director of Sport and Extended Curriculum Activities) originated from the Sports Director of the American School in Valencia during the ESC annual meeting. Throughout the tournament, which featured both male and female students, our students were accommodated in a sports village approximately an hour away from Barcelona.
Over the course of two action-packed days, students engaged in thrilling matches, leading up to an exciting final showdown. A ceremony concluded the tournament, honoring the champions and recognizing standout players from each team, adding an extra layer of excitement and celebration to the competitive atmosphere.
Before the break, the World Languages Department organized a series of activities to celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Mother Tongue Week at both the Cortambert and Beethoven campuses. Among these, Middle School students engaged in a vibrant Lion/Dragon Dance performance at the Cortambert campus, participated in a lively Peruvian Celebration featuring a piñata, and joined workshops organized by Mandarin and Korean students.
From all of us at ISP, may the Year of the Dragon bring you and your loved ones peace, happiness and good fortune. That this year be full of new opportunities, exciting adventures, and wonderful experiences!
David Henry and Antoine Delaitre (incoming Head of School) co-hosted an ISP alumni cocktail event in NYC on February 4th. The evening offered an ideal time and place to reminisce about some favourite ISP memories, reconnect with old friends and make new ones. There were fun nibbles, a great view and an unforgettable game of Mikado!
Meanwhile, across the pond... ISP Alumni Coordinator, Phil Anderson, hosted a London dinner with alumni on February 10th. This was a successful event on the heels of an ISP alumni cocktail held in London last year.
A quick reminder to all our Grade 12 students and any families who may know they are moving on from ISP at the end of the 2023-24 school year to sign up for our alumni community platform at https://alumni.isparis.edu/
On February 3rd, Piers and Adèle from the Admissions team were delighted to attend the AAWE International School Fair held at the American Church. This biannual fair connects the Paris anglophone community and over 40 bilingual and international schools in and around the Paris area.
Piers and Adele eagerly showcased our academically challenging and student-centred IB PYP, MYP and DP curriculums, language programs, and after-school activities to prospective families. They highlighted the distinct advantages of ISP's three campuses strategically situated in the heart of the bustling city, underscoring the unique advantages of an urban-centered education. They described our 'Paris as a Classroom' initiative, which empowers students to expand their learning horizons beyond the traditional classroom walls.
Piers and Adele took great pride in representing ISP as a truly global institution, boasting a student body comprising over 70 nationalities and championing core values of diversity and inclusivity.
