Inspiring Olympic Journeys: A Memorable Panel at ISP Cortambert

Last week, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) hosted a remarkable Olympic panel discussion at the ISP Cortambert campus!

The engaging panel featured esteemed former Olympic athletes Mariama Signaté and Rose-Eliandre Bellemare, alongside Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin, a descendant of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games. Mariama Signaté, a sports consultant and retired international handball player, represented France in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and secured silver medals at the 2009 and 2011 World Championships. Rose-Eliandre Bellemare, a French artistic gymnast, competed in the 2008 Olympics.

The panel discussion delved into the personal journeys and achievements of these distinguished athletes, offering students and attendees valuable insights into the dedication, perseverance, and passion required to excel in sports at the highest level. They shared inspiring anecdotes from their Olympic experiences, highlighting both the challenges and triumphs they encountered along the way. Additionally, Alexandra de Navacelle de Coubertin provided a unique historical perspective on the evolution of the Olympic Games, drawing on her extensive involvement in promoting Olympic culture and heritage.

Celebrating Learning: Secondary School Student Learning Conference

Last week, ISP hosted its annual Secondary School Student Learning Conference, a day for secondary school students to celebrate and showcase their achievements from the past year.

The conference prompted students to reflect on their learning experiences throughout the year. They were asked to identify surprising discoveries, articulate the most significant lessons learned, express their interests in further exploration, discuss what piqued their curiosity during presentations, reflect on their peak performances during the school year, and consider practical applications for the knowledge they gained. These reflections aimed to deepen their understanding and appreciation of their academic journey.

Kangaroo Math Competition Highlights: Middle and High School Achievements

Last week, ISP hosted the Kangaroo Math Competition Ceremonies for both G6-8 Middle School and G9-12 High School students. The middle school ceremony kicked off with a Maths challenge, followed by a celebration of all participants. The iconic kangaroo made an appearance at both events.

Next year, the middle school Maths club will return as an extracurricular activity (ECA). This will give students the chance to collaborate with their peers and engage in challenges, further nurturing their interest in Mathematics.

Strengthening Safeguarding: Paris Schools Unite in New Alliance

After many years of planning, ISP's Wellbeing team held their first face-to-face meeting for the Paris Safeguarding Alliance (PSA) last week. This group, which the team has established and is leading, consists of schools in the Paris region dedicated to enhancing their safeguarding capabilities, creating a supportive peer network, and sharing best practices and experiences.

The participating schools currently include L'École Jeannine Manuel, The British School of Paris, the American School of Paris, Marymount and the British Section - Lycée International at Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Lennen Bilingual School

The meeting was a significant milestone, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students across the region.

Alumni Spotlight: From ISP Student to Global Talent Manager

Fouad Al-Obaid, who would have graduated with the class of 2004, recently visited us from Kuwait with his two sons. Fouad attended ISP from Kindergarten through Grade 8, leaving in 2000. He later returned to Paris to study at the American University, where he earned his M.A. During his visit, he toured both the Beethoven and Ranelagh campuses, noting how everything seemed smaller now that he is an adult. Fouad's favorite memories of ISP include the Annual Olympics and International Day celebrations. Currently, he works as a talent manager in the Human Resources department at Boubyan Bank in Kuwait.

He has committed to participating in our university mentoring program and will be speaking at our careers fair next year. Fouad's journey from ISP student to accomplished professional is an inspiration to us all, and we are thrilled to have him back as an integral part of our alumni network.
