Vacations/Absences & School Day
  • Students have vacations on some French public holidays as well as regular breaks throughout the school year. Calendar of School Vacations
  • Parents should telephone the switchboard at 01 42 24 43 40 by 9:00 if their child is to be absent that day. If the absence is for longer than 2 days, a medical certificate is required.
  • School start and finish times are as follows:
    • Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten: 9:00 to 15:15. ISP staff is on hand to supervise children beginning at 8:45.
    • Grades 1-5: 9:00 to 15:30. Parents can drop off children as early as 8:30
  • Students may either bring a lunch from home or have a hot lunch supplied (if ordered in advance for the whole term). More information and fees about Hot Lunches.
  • Several After School Activities (ASA) are available for the grades 1-5 and include art, cooking, literary, performing arts, running club, etc. More information about ASA Programs.
  • A bus service is available for families. Application for this service needs to be made at the time of registration or re-registration.
  • There is no school uniform but students are encouraged to come to school in comfortable, hardwearing clothes in which they can move freely.
  • ISP has a qualified and registered nurse who can assist children with any health related issues.

Faculty
  • Each student is taught by one class teacher for his or her grade and several specialist teachers.
  • Early years classes (nursery-kindergarten) have one class teacher as well as an assistant.
  • Specialist teachers teach a variety of subjects including: French, PE (Physical Education), art and music, and EAL (English as an additional language).
  • A learning support staff is available to provide students with additional assistance where necessary.
  • On average, teaching staff stay at ISP for 4 years. 
  • ISP staff represent 22 nationalities and speak approximately 20 different languages including: German, Spanish, Hindi, English, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (including Brazilian), Chinese (Mandarin), Swedish, Russian, Armenian, Italian, French (including Canadian and Belgian French), Arabic, Slovakian, and Scottish.
  • A Cross Cultural Coordinator helps the Primary School in celebrating diversity.
  • The School Nurse is available at the Primary School two days a week and can be reached by email and/or phone all week.
  • Two Vice Principals address both organizational aspects and student well-being respectively.
  • A PYP (Primary Years Programme) coordinator is charged with ensuring the curriculum is articulated, implemented and balanced throughout the school.

ISP Communications
  • ISP sends a school-wide newsletter called The Contact to all parents via e-mail each week.
  • Parents will also receive a monthly newsletter written by class and specialist teachers with information about field trips and that month’s learning activities.
  • Report cards are sent home twice a year.
  • Students have their own booklets or agendas, which can be used for home/school communication
  • Parent-Teacher conferences are held twice a year. These serve as opportunities for parents/carers and teachers to share information on your child’s progress. 
  • Student-Led Conferences are held once a year and are opportunities for students to share their learning with their parents/carers.   
  • The Primary School Principal holds regular “Coffee with the Principal” mornings with parents of different grades. Parents will be informed of these activities via email.
  • Parent information evenings and workshops are held on a regular basis and are communicated to parents via email and are also available on the school calendar.
  • ISP publishes a variety of publications including the biannual Tribune and the Annual Report.
