ISP finished off the year with a school-wide Fun Run, providing an opportunity
for the entire community to come together one last time before leaving for the
summer holidays. This year, for the first time ever, students ran to raise
money to buy French books for a school project that has just started in Haiti.
Students in
the Secondary School arrived first, shortly followed by grades 1-5 in the
Primary School. Grade 11 students demonstrated their leadership skills, helping
to organize the event and warming up each grade group before their run.
Each lap completed
represented more money for Haiti.
Students had pledged to run a certain number of laps, and sponsors pledged
a donation for each lap. Perhaps invigorated by the entire school community
cheering them on, many were surprised that they actually out ran the number of
laps they pledged!
Many
parents also helped out and even ran with the students, and the PTA provided
food and cake for everyone since all were hungry after so much physical effort
under the hot summer sun.
Thanks to
student sponsorships, ISP raised almost € 6,000 to support
the Haiti
school project. This sum includes 400 euros donated
by a grade 10 student who organized a private sale to raise more
money for the event.
