How to Apply
We know that starting or changing school is a big step, particularly internationally. This can be a little daunting. We therefore aim for the International School of Paris application procedure to be as clear and transparent as possible, to enable you to plan as effectively as possible.
Below you will find an overview of the five stages that an application to the International School of Paris follows on its journey from pre-enquiry through to enrolment. Click on the links in each box below to find further details about each stage of the process.

- Stage 1: Enquiry
- Stage 2: Document Submission
- Stage 3: Review Process
- Stage 4: Committee Decision
- Stage 5: New Beginnings at ISP
Before you can decide to apply to ISP, you must decide that ISP is right for you. We are here to help you do that. We have provided a number of different resources to accompany you at this stage of enquiry and pre-application research. First of all, we would advise you to consult our Frequent Parent Questions. We have a lot of experience… it’s possible another parent has already asked your question! This will also direct you to other areas of the website which should be helpful in your research.
If you do not find your answers on the website, please connect with the ISP Admissions Team in order to get them.
Once you have identified ISP as a possible match for your family, we would invite you to come visit us on campus by scheduling a visit with a member of the admissions team.
Once you have made the decision to apply to ISP, the time comes for submitting the application materials.
Exactly what is required varies slightly depending on the age of your child. Please visit our Download Center for complete application packets and an application checklist.
Completed files may be sent electronically to email@example.com (5MB limit per email) or via post.
As soon as we receive a complete application from you, your file will undergo a detailed review by our Admissions Committee. This committee includes members of our Admissions Team, the Primary/Secondary School Principal, the Head of School and other members of the educational team, as deemed appropriate. Each student’s application is given careful consideration. This may involve some additional follow-up in certain cases, when we feel this is necessary to enable us to make a decision.
To find out more about what we look for when reviewing applications, please refer to our Criteria for Admission.
We endeavor to communicate the Admissions Committee’s final decision and information regarding next steps within two weeks of receiving a completed application. Of course, this timing may need to be adjusted slightly for seasonal holiday periods or peak admissions seasons. In all cases, we try our best to keep you informed as the process moves forward.
When the Admissions Committee has reached a decision, this is communicated to you via email. There are three main possible outcomes:
The candidate is accepted.
If your application is successful and we have a suitable space available, you will be offered a place at the school. Please see Stage 5: New Beginnings at ISP for additional details.
The candidate is offered a space on the waiting list.
Sometimes, we have a number of candidates competing for the same spot, and in such cases some applicants unfortunately have to be offered spaces on the waiting list.
Find out how waiting lists are managed here: Waiting lists
The candidate is not accepted.
Sadly, we do sometimes have to deny admission to candidates. This normally occurs when the Admissions Committee feels that ISP would not be the most appropriate environment for the student, based on the services we offer and our criteria for admission. In such instances, we try our best to assist families in finding a suitable alternative in the Paris area.
If your child is accepted to ISP, you will be asked to submit a registration contract and a registration deposit to finalize the enrolment and secure his/her place. The registration deposit will subsequently be deducted from the academic year’s tuition fees.
Over the following months, you will receive a variety of information welcoming you to the school, and you can find an overview of that information here: Next steps
We look forward to welcoming you to our community!
